Catch Up

Where did this week go? More and more, the days and weeks are escaping me. So much to catch up on. Here are the highlights:
-
Westin is developing quite the sense of humor. I often catch him laughing about things (who knows what) and playing little jokes on me. He also thinks of new tricks, like this one, and thinks they're so funny.

Westin has also developed a strong opinion about his style (or sometimes, lack thereof). Lately, he has not been at all interested in wearing shorts. Jeans only. It's not even cold right now. Quite the opposite, actually. The poor kid had pink cheeks all day yesterday as he ran around the playground because he insisted on wearing jeans. And this little outfit below was all Westin's idea - the orange shirt underneath the striped one, along with khaki cords, red socks and grey shoes.

At the end of last week, before taking Westin up to grandma and grandpa's house for a sleepover while Ryan and I celebrated our anniversary, we joined some friends at Travel Town for a little boys' day out.

That night, while Westin was having fun with grandma and grandpa Rich, Ryan and I went out to dinner at Cafe La Boheme in West Hollywood to celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary. Ryan was in charge of finding a restaurant and he did an awesome job. We loved everything we ordered (which was a lot, because we take the saying, "go big or go home" very seriously). After the bacon-wrapped dates and pumpkin ravioli we shared, this was my miso salmon. So good.

Which was of course followed by a Valrhona chocolate cake - that we ate so quickly I didn't even get a chance to take a picture :)

That night we treated ourselves to a hotel near the beach, where we attempted to relax in a hot tub (which failed because there WASN'T one!), slept in and then took a morning run on the beach.
-
Like I said, near the beach (4 blocks away). I guess we could have just gone back to our place, but why not use some hotel points to have someone else clean up after you?

After a great weekend, Westin and I took yet another trip over to Disneyland. Just a couple more weeks before we get blacked out for the summer. Just trying to make every penny of that annual pass worth it!
-
Very excited for Cars Land to open next year and for the Cars 2 movie to come out next month
-
Um, apparently Westin needed to stretch a little before the next picture
-
A boy who really knows how to enjoy the rides
-
Waiting in line with Jersey and Nicholas

The rest of the week has been more low-key. We're looking forward to warm weather and the beach or pool for the holiday weekend. Then it's finals week for Ryan. His first year of the MBA program is nearly done. It's hard to believe that it's already been about a year since we moved into "the village," as they call it around here. So one year down, one to go!
