Kurt & Erika's California Adventure

This past weekend our friends Kurt and Erika came to visit. Yes, those two names probably sound very familiar, as they are two of our best friends from college and have made appearances in several of our blog posts over the months. We were so excited to have them in town this weekend. They arrived early Saturday morning, just in time for the first college football game to start. After the day's first game, we took Kurt and Erika over to UCLA to tour the campus. Kurt will be applying to law schools soon and we're trying our best to get them to head west and join us in LA. I think showing them the campus on such a gorgeous Saturday really helped. The weather was just insanely perfect this weekend.
UCLA just started classes, so as we walked around the campus we noticed several different socials taking place. Being that it was lunch time, we took advantage of the fact that it was a new year and people were still getting to know one another... and jumped right in to the first pizza social we saw.
After we got our free lunch we walked over to the Anderson School of Business where they were wrapping up their social and got ourselves some dessert!!! We stood out a little more in this crowd, but who was going to tell a pregnant chick not to eat cake? All in all, it was a very fun day on campus and I think UCLA definitely earned some points with Kurt and Erika. Mission accomplished.

We finished the afternoon with a victorious BYU game and then headed to Universal Studios' Fright Night. I haven't been to a haunted house since middle school, so I was really excited to go to this. The whole park is turned in to a haunted house basically. There are three different mazes/haunted houses, three different scare zones (where people are dressed up and scare you at random as you're walking around) and four different rides open. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go on the rides, but Ryan, Kurt and Erika said they were really fun - especially The Mummy Ride. I wish I had the picture of their faces from the ride - Ryan's expression was priceless. The one ride I did get to go on was the Back Lot Tour, which is actually very different from the normal ride. Instead of driving you around the back lot, they drop you off at a certain place and you walk through the haunted lot. It was really cool because we got to see some of the sets up close, like Norman Bate's house from Psycho...
Of course, as you're walking, people are scaring you left and right. It wasn't so scary though because it was packed with people. It would have been awesome if we were doing the tour alone...

Before we walked out we had to snap a picture of Ryan and Kurt with Freddy's Fly Girl...

We were all exhausted at the end of the night and couldn't wait to get home to bed. We all felt so old though, cause we only left at 11 and the party in the park was still raging.

Sunday we relaxed, ate at Ryan's parents' house, and watched the Dodgers take down the Phillies. Then on Monday, Ryan and Kurt went to the game (which we won't talk about because it didn't have a happy ending), while Erika and I went shopping and set up the baby's crib. Thanks Erika for helping me get this done!

The finished product...
Now it's back to reality - aka - work. Ugh. Thanks again to Kurt and Erika for coming to hang out with us. We already miss you!
