Memorial Day Weekend

Over Memorial Day weekend, Trevor, Karla, my dad and Loni all came to visit. Trevor and Karla arrived first, on Friday morning. Avery and I picked them up and then we picked Westin up from school. After a quick bite at the house, we went over to Berkeley to Codornices Park where they have a concrete slice and a rose garden. The slide was a big hit. 

And by dinnertime, dad and Loni had joined us at Roam in Lafayette. The burgers here are one of my fave, particularly the Sunny Side. 

Oh, and of course we couldn't pass up on the grand opening of Smitten Ice Cream right next door. It was Avery's first taste and needless to say, she was a big fan. 

Saturday morning we got a babysitter for the kids and went to the Oakland Temple for a 9:15 session... which turned out to be a Spanish speaking session. Ha! We decided to stay and used headphones, which was a first but as always, the feeling and experience in the temple is incredible in any language. 

The afternoon was spent at the pool at the hotel my dad and Loni were staying at. 

Followed by a family night out at the ballgame (albeit the wrong ball park, but we can enjoy just about any game).

My dad had gotten the tickets and was able to get two seats in the very first row...

Not sure Westin could really appreciate this moment at his age, but I know how excited he was to be so close to the players and how cool he think his grandpa is! 

We also had great seats. First row of the second level. And Avery did really well through six innings. 

Sunday we went to the 9am ward and then took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed into the city, where we walked around the Embarcadero and stopped at the Ferry Building for ice cream at Humphry Slocombe.
