Disneyland & the Dodgers - what more could you ask for?

WARNING: This is going to be a long entry - but it's got lots of pictures!

I can't believe how fast this weekend flew by. Ryan and I both took Friday off work to enjoy an extra long weekend with our friends Kurt and Erika who were in town visiting from Utah. The weekend was packed with fun activities.

Friday we woke up at the crack of dawn to head over to Disneyland. We wanted to be there when it opened, so we left around 7 a.m. thinking there'd be a little traffic and we'd get there around 8:30 or 9. Um, we were way off. There was NO traffic and we pulled up to the Disneyland parking lot at 7:45 and had to wait 15 minutes before we could even get in. After we bought our tickets, we waited about another 15 minutes before we were let into the park at 8:30. This is brilliant on Disney's part - they let visitors in a half hour before the park opens, but only let you walk around Main Street where there's all the stores and food, but no rides.

Here we are waiting on Main Street for security to remove the rope separating us and the park. I don't think I've ever been to Disneyland this early. The anticipation just kept building...

Once we got in, we headed straight for the Indiana Jones ride (in honor of the big release this weekend). After that we hit up Pirates, Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain. Thanks to a little rain on Friday, the park was pretty empty in the morning and we didn't have to wait in a single line!

Erika and I stayed pretty dry, but the boys didn't have as much luck. And though the rain helped keep the crowds away, it wasn't the best weather for drying up quickly.

Once we finished Frontierland, we headed over to Tomorrowland where we discovered the Buzz Lightyear ride. Go ahead and laugh... I know what you're thinking... but it was a fun ride and we went on it TWICE! The thing about this ride is that it had a little competition to it - you use the guns to shoot at targets and earn points. I won the first round, Erika won the second round - but together, the boys kicked our trash in round 2.
No matter what people tell you about Toon Town - don't listen, it's not that cool (unless you have kids, I assume). The only ride we could go on was the Roger Rabbit ride and we had to wait way too long for what we got in return. Not cool.

The boys were adamant about doing the Tea Cups, but Erika and I refused - neither of us felt like throwing up that day. I love this picture because Ryan totally looks into it - just like a little kid. So cute!

After all the fun in the park, we headed over to Downtown Disney to watch the Lakers beat the Spurs at the ESPN Zone. What a great day!

Then on Saturday, after the Indiana Jones movie and lunch at The Counter, we headed over to the Dodgers game. Trevor is currently interning for the Dodgers and scored us some great seats right along first base.

Dad, Loni, Crystal (Trev's friend) and Trev... you can see Trev took the good seats... and we were two rows back.

The boys caught three fly balls - pretty amazing.

And here's the whole gang. Too bad the Dodgers couldn't pull off a win to make it an even better weekend. Oh well, we still had a blast!
