Thanksgiving Weekend

This year we spent the Thanksgiving with the Rich side of the family. Ryan didn't get much time off school, so it was nice too stay close to home. We drove up to Valencia on Thursday morning, looking forward to the cooking, football and of course, family time. However, I quickly realized Westin wasn't in the mood to be couped up in the house. It was a little too cold for the park (yeah, I'm a wimp), so the only place I could think of (that was open on Thanksgiving) to take Westin to exert some energy was Walmart. Yeaaahhh...

We spent about two hours playing with all the toys and getting lunch for W at the Walmart McDonalds. Could I be a cooler mom?

After our adventures at Walmart it was finally time for us to get home and put Westin down for a nap. We timed it perfectly. Westin slept through the whole Thanksgiving meal - which was full of amazing food. (Hey, he'll appreciate it in years to come. All he would have cared about were the rolls and pie, and he got plenty of both once he woke up.)

The next day we took Westin to The Grove to meet up with my dad and Loni. Everyone thought we were nuts going to a mall, but we weren't really going to shop, just to play. Fortunately, we didn't hit any crowds and it was a gorgeous day. The Grove had all the Christmas decorations up and W loved looking at the tree and Santa's sleigh. 

While Ryan and I did a little shopping, Grandpa Steve took W on the trolly.

And what's a trip to The Grove without seeing Santa and getting our picture taken with him?

Saturday was kind of a lazy day. More football and hanging out with the family. Westin loved hanging out with his cousins.

The kids did get to go with Grandpa Rick to feed the ducks on Saturday. They loved it. Apparently Westin would give one piece to the ducks, take one for himself and so on... hey, at least he's sharing.

When Westin wasn't being entertained by grandpa or the cousins, he was usually in the kitchen playing with the kid chairs. He loved moving them around, lining them up, and pushing them back into place.



We had a great weekend with Ryan's family. Today we're off to Disneyland with my dad and Loni before they head home tonight.  Then it will be two weeks of getting ready things ready for Westin's birthday and Christmas before we head to Utah. Ryan just has one week left of classes and then a week of finals... and then he gets nearly a month off school before the next quarter. Amazing!
