Poor Ryan

What a week for Ryan! Monday morning he took a 7 a.m. flight out of SLC to get back to LA for work. However, once he got in, work was kind of slow that day and it turns out he could have stayed in SLC until he had to leave Tuesday for New York. Instead, he had a wasted day Monday and then left for NYC Tuesday morning. Things went pretty smoothly in NYC until yesterday when he was supposed to fly back to LA. At JFK, his flight was about 2 hours delayed (most of the time was spent on the tarmac, which is always the worst!). Then, once they were in the air, the plane's engine started to have some problems and the pilot made an emergency landing in Detroit. At this point, it's about midnight and there's certainly no way Ryan would be getting home until today. The airline (American - which we both HATE!) told Ryan they were going to bring in a part for the plane and that everyone would fly on that same plane this morning back to LA. WHAT! Yeah right! Like I'm gonna let my husband fly on a broken plane. It's not like it was a broken toilet - we're talking about the ENGINE... that little part of the plane that actually allows the plane to fly. Needless to say, I was freaking out about the idea of Ryan getting back on that plane.

He ended up spending the night at an airport hotel and going back to the airport this morning. Turns out they weren't able to fix the plane he was originally on, so they rebooked everyone on different flights. Unfortunately, he's not getting out of there until this afternoon (everything is booked on Memorial Weekend). He has to make a connection in Chicago and will hopefully be back in LA about the time Westin and I land.

I'm crossing my fingers that everything works out with the plane he'll be on this afternoon... I'd be a little more hopeful if Ryan hadn't told me that another American flight had to be grounded at Detroit because of problems with hydraulics! Seriously!?!
