Summer Activities

It's officially summer and we're definitely taking advantage of the good weather and free days. Already, there's been lots of baseball, outdoor runs, park visits, swimming and even a visit to the Oakland Zoo and the new Exploratorium in the city.

Summer training
Westin's love of baseball has not diminished a single ounce since his t-ball season ended. In fact, just last week he dressed as a baseball player four days.

With the lack of preschool hours to use for a gym visit, W has been joining me on runs on the trail near our house. One day he chose to run along side me (which lasted about 10 minutes, but was pretty darn cute), and on another day he decided to go as Spiderman. Because, why not?

We also had a chance to go to the Oakland Zoo with our friends the Pettingills. Unfortunately, we picked the hottest day of the week to go, so we only stayed about two hours. We did manage to see everything we wanted to within that time, so it was still a successful visit.

Had to end the day with popsicles and swimming (don't mind my finger there at the bottom - oops).

More baseball with Ryan and his friend Scott from work.

And last week we went into the city to explore the new Exploratorium at Pier 15.
It was still pretty crowded, even though it had opened up back in April, and there is a lot to look at, but the kids still seemed to really enjoy it. We spent about 4 hours there, and the kids were showing no signs of slowing down.

After the Exploratorium, we walked back toward the Bart station, where Ryan's office is, and met him and Todd for frozen yogurt.

This was also Westin's first ride on the Bart, but he was definitely a train pro after last summer in Europe.

That night we were both pretty worn out and ended our day of learning snuggled in my bed watching more "How it's Made." The entire time, W had his arm wrapped tightly around my baby belly. This was my favorite moment of the day.

And more summer fun to come - Westin starts a five day sports camp today, where he'll be spending three hours a day playing baseball, basketball and soccer.
