Saturday afternoon we took the train up to Zurich. It's only about a 25 minute ride, with just a few stops. We left after lunch, hoping to avoid some of the rain... but we weren't so lucky. It rained most of the afternoon, unfortunately. Despite the rain, the city was still bustling with activity and we were well prepared to handle the wet weather, not willing to waste a weekend to travel.
This is the front of the train station, leading down the mile-long Bahnhofstrasse, which is lined with shops and restaurants.
Not more than 20 yards down Bahnhofstrasse, we found ourselves drooling at Murcur chocolates... and how could we not when giant slabs of chocolate were staring us in the eye.

We spent the afternoon wandering through the city, just turning down streets that looked interesting or following the sound of church bells. What we really liked about Zurich was all the cobblestone, car-less streets - even in the main shopping and dining sectors. It makes the city so charming and approachable.
We came across this great four-story toy store that we spent about an hour in. Westin was loving it - so much to look at and so much to play with.

I literally only went into one store to shop, and when I emerged, this is what I found - both boys on iPhones playing Temple Run. Classic.
It pretty much rained on and off the entire afternoon, but was usually just light rain... until this torrential downpour that lasted about 20 minutes.
By the time we were finished with dinner, we were able to walk back to the train station in a little bit of sunshine.
Looking forward to a return visit
