Spiderman's Halloween

It was quite the Halloween weekend for us around here... well, it was a big weekend for Spiderman. Yup, Spiderman was the costume of choice for Westin this year - and it was, indeed, his choice. He loved the costume and got good use out of it. It probably would have gotten even more use had I said "yes" every time Westin asked if he could wear it (including to bed). 

We had a lot of great moments over the weekend, but the most memorable for me was when Westin said, "Mom, I just love my costume. I just love it!". Makes every penny of that Amazon purchase worth it!

The weekend started with my mom's arrival on Thursday afternoon. She would be in town through today, and we had all day Friday and all day Monday with her. After a leisurely walk on Friday morning, we headed to 3rd Street for a little shopping and lunch at Tender Greens.

Friday night was the beginning of the many Halloween activities we had planned. To kick things off, we had our ward Halloween party in Westwood. Ryan was attending some school meetings, so it was just Spiderman and me. 

W was not a fan of the mask, so this is the only picture we got of the whole thing.

During the party, I caught Spiderman trying to put the moves on Snow White. What a little charmer!

He even got an award for his costume (as did all of the other kids, but, shhh, don't tell him that)

This is Mykel and Matt - Westin's nursery leaders. They made a perfect Jesse and Woody. So perfect, in fact, Westin did a double take and couldn't stop starring at them.

On Saturday, we attended a Trunk or Treat with our old ward in Santa Monica.

Charlie had an awesome Mad Hatter costume (hat not pictured) that his mom made! Emily, you are sooo talented. Loved, loved, loved his costume. And sorry I tortured him with all the picture taking.

These two are so funny (do I say that enough or what, but seriously, they are). They were both totally diggin' the other's costume.

On Halloween, Westin had preschool in the morning. It was my turn to teach (we do a co-op), and the letter of the day was "G." Perfect - ghosts, games, and grandma! On our letter days, the kids are supposed to bring something that starts with that day's letter. How perfect was the timing that Westin was able to bring his grandma for the "G" day.

During the first hour, we had our lesson about "G," then during the second hour, all the moms returned with costumes and we got the kids dressed for their party. So here you have Snow White, Rapunzel, Belle, Spiderman, a cowboy, a monster and Peter Pan.

Since we don't have many kids, we didn't do a parade. Instead, each child stood up and told everyone about their costume while they did a little twirl. 

After some games, we had a picnic lunch where we dined on such things as string cheese fingers, apple monster mouths...

Of course, this was all just pre-game fun compared to the real deal on Monday night. We took Westin up to Brentwood for trick or treating this year. He loved it and was totally into it! We started at about 5:45 and went for a good hour. Westin, I mean Spiderman, loved checking out the different decorations on each of the houses, did a great job saying "trick or treat," and admired the many costumes roaming the streets throughout the evening (he would often yell out, "hey mom, look at that Superman! I like Superman!" or "Dad, who's that? What's his costume?" or "Look, it's an Angry Bird. Wow, an Angry Bird!")

Some people definitely go ALL out. This was one of the better ones with brains and guts adorning the entryway. 

It was such a fun night. I loved every minute watching this little guy pretend to be Spiderman.
