Over the weekend, we threw Westin a superhero party to celebrate his 3rd birthday with some friends and family. We have a community room here at our apartment complex that I was able to use, and it couldn't have been more perfect for the kids - nothing they can break, lots of room to run around, and they can't escape. Here's a quick look of the decorations and food, and then we'll get to the fun stuff...
The cake was a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting (with lots of black food coloring - which turned out to completely dye everyone's mouth. hahaha. it was a funny surprise and nothing a swig of water couldn't fix.)
These were white cupcakes with a whipped vanilla frosting (the one I used a few posts back for my friend's baby shower). The cupcake toppers turned out to be my favorite decoration.
As we waited for everyone to arrive, the kids colored superhero pictures
Once the whole gang was there, we started with some games. The first on the list was hot potato with Superman's kryptonite.
Then it was time for the superhero training course - the kids had to crawl through this tunnel, then jump over a city, walk a tight rope, jump through a ring of fire and finish with target practice.
After the training course, the kids were ready to be real superheroes and catch the bad guys. I hid about a dozen pictures of the villains around the room, with a million dollar candy bar attached to one of them. The kids had to go capture the bad guys in hopes of finding the one who had stolen the money.
And then it was time for food and cake
With grandma and grandpa Rich
With Loni and Grandpa Steve
And Aunt Mandy
It turned out to be a really fun day (despite Westin still kind of being sick with his cold) and I am so appreciative to our family and friends who helped me set up and clean up, and to everyone who came. We were so happy we could celebrate this big day with you.

Those cupcake toppers are amazing!! So stinkin cute! What a fun party. Happy Bday Westin, wish we could've been there :)
all the decorations were amazing. seriously, you should win an award for cutest kid party ever. i'm still embarrassed eli was being such a pill, but he still had a lot of fun and has talked about it many times since.
later that day here's a little convo that eli and i had:
eli: mom, i want to go see westin.
me: why? (thinking i was going to hear something about him wanting to play with westin's new presents)
eli: because i love him. he's my friend.
:)
Cute, cute, cute!!!! I am totally stealing the cupcake topper idea--pictures of the b-day person makes everything better. Loved it. I can't believe he's three--and darling as ever!!
Wow! You went to a ton of work. I am completely impressed. I think the only thing that would have made it better would have been to have Ryan dress up as Spiderman and scare all the children. We have a suit you can borrow and Mitch can give him tips. Maybe next year.
