A Week In SoCal

Straight after getting home from our week in Utah, we repacked and got in the car and drove to LA. Miss Avery isn't loving the car these days, so I usually end up in the backseat with the kids. When Avery woke up from a nap, she was kinda struggling and I couldn't help but snap a few pictures of the waking up process.

She was quickly back to herself.

We started the week at my dad's house, along with Chris and Kenzie. We had a nice Sunday walk/hike in the Studio City hills.

Later that day, Ryan and I headed to Moorpark for Jen's wedding. It was so fun to see the girls and get the night to hang out with them.

Even more fun, is getting a night out with Ryan!

On Monday, we headed to the coast and enjoyed lunch at Paradise Cove and a frozen treat at Malibu Yogurt,

Before we headed out to meet my mom and the Pace gang in Newport, Avery got her birthday gifts from grandpa and Oma... new shoes!

Pt. Reyes

Our nephew Grant turned 12 and received the priesthood a few weeks ago. In honor of him, Ryan's parents and brother, Adam, came up to be a part of the big day. On Saturday, we all ventured to Pt. Reyes for the day.

We started at the visitors center where we enjoyed a little exhibit about the animals and area nearby.

We then took a short walk around the earthquake trail.
It was neat to see the impact the earthquake had on the land. This fence was once a single piece. It's now 16 feet apart due to the earthquake back in the 80s.

After our walk, we drove to the beach nearby.

Then hit the farmers' market, where we enjoyed delicious grilled cheese sandwiches and music by some locals. Miss Avery loves to dance!

A Week in Utah: Part 2

Spent another afternoon in Provo, competing in an intense game of bowling, followed by the shortest visit to the Bean Museum ever (closed early because of the holiday... Errr!), and then shaved ice.

Wish Lily lived near us. She is so good with Avery!

This is what a strike looks like.

We may have only had ten minutes in the Bean Museum, but we made the most of it.

On the 24th of July, Utah's big Pioneer Day, we started our celebration with a hike up Bridal Veil Falls and lunch at In n' Out with Trevor and Karla.

That night, we went to the Days of 47 Rodeo in Salt Lake. These two went in character and were the cutest cowgirl and cowboy I've ever seen!

On our last day, we spent a few hours with Tawni, Kristi and Allie and all of our kids.

Always need our Westin and Easton pic.

Love these girls!

That night we flew home to Walnut Creek and got ready to depart the next day for LA.

A Week in Utah: Part 1

The great benefit of Ryan working for a Swiss company is the number of days off he gets. It's pretty much unheard of in the U.S. We took advantage of his time off and scheduled a two-week vacation, with the first week spent in Utah and the second week spent in LA. Nothing too lavish, but definitely much needed family time and we had a blast.

Westin loves planes - Navy planes to be exact - so he enjoyed a little peak into the cockpit.
Avery did pretty well on the flight. Luckily it's a short flight, because we spent most of the time walking up and down the isle saying hi to every passenger. I don't think I could have done that for more than an hour.

We arrived Friday night, and my brother Trevor picked us up from the airport. Our first stop was for dinner at Cafe Rio... oh, how I miss that place.

We then went to Lindsay's house, where we would be crashing for the rest of the week.

On Saturday, we headed to Snowbird, where they have all the fun rides that Park City  has but for half the price. We rode the Alpine Coaster, the Alpine Slide, the zip line, the gondola, and Westin did the trampoline and climbed the rock wall.

On Sunday we enjoyed a lazy morning, followed by church, and a visit to my grandparents' home in Draper. It was perfect timing because my Aunt Karen and her kids were there, along with my Uncle Jon, Aunt Debbie and some of my cousins. It was nice to see everyone and catch up for a little bit.

On Monday, we took Westin and Avery to SLC to see Temple Square, the Church History Museum and City Creek. I loved doing this visit as a kid and hope that my kids will also look forward to visiting the Church sites each time we go to Salt Lake.

In the Joseph Smith Building, there is a huge map that shows where all the missionaries are for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We asked Westin where he was going to go on his mission and he first pointed to Panama, and then decided on Alaska.

This little one really started to walk while we were gone... and now she's cruising all over the place.

On Tuesday, we went down to Provo with Kurt, Erika and Robbie to visit BYU and play at Seven Peaks Water Park - two other activities I loved doing when I was a kid. First stop was the Wilk to grab some chocolate milk and go to the bookstore. Ryan picked out a new hat and W got a new shirt.

It's crazy how time flies... 10 years ago, these two had just gotten home from their missions and were roommates in a house south of campus. Now they're pushing strollers around campus.

Kurt and Ryan took Westin to the athlete center, where Westin got a tour of the trophies, workout room and other BYU sports paraphernalia. He loved it!

After walking around BYU for a couple hours, we grabbed lunch at a new BBQ place called Cubby's, and then headed over to Seven Peaks for the rest of the afternoon.

These two are so funny. I had to capture these pictures and compare them to when we visited back when Avery was just 6 weeks old.

Such a fun day with these guys. It's always sad when our time with the Rebers has to come to an end.
